Nakshatras in Vedic Astrology

Nakshatra is one of the main focuses of Hindu astronomy and astrology in reference to The Panchanga or calendar, Almanac, and Tithis or full days of the lunar month providing an overall, simplistic system for predicting the effects of planets throughout life. The Sages of ancient times divided the zodiac into 27 Nakshatras, each spanning 13.20 degrees referenced in ancient Vedic scriptures. Lunar mansion or constellation are other terms for Nakshatra. In accordance with Hindu mythology, the 27 Nakshatras are the daughters of King Daksha and the Moon or Chandra, the Moon god, is married to them. In accordance with Vedic astrology, the Moon positions approximately one day each in one constellation stationing the lunar month of 27 days, equal to the number of Nakshatras. The Nakshatra, where the Moon is positioned during an individual's time of birth, is their Janma Nakshatra or birth star. Further, Nakshatras are subdivisional into four quarters referred to as Pada, each spanning 3.20 degrees, termed as Navamsa.
