Vedic Astrology and Western Astrology
Vedic Astrology
1. Sidereal Design, Nirayana.
2. Sidereal year marker, Sun returning to a stabilized star, 180 degrees from the most luminous nakshatra/star, Ashwini.
3. Inclusive precession of equinox due to Earth’s wobble effect.
4. Vedic Design calculates the position of the equinox moves 1 degree every 72 years and is called Ayanamsa.
5. Planetary aspects to surface strength, 180-degree aspects and other aspects.
6. Timing of events through Dashas, time determination of fruitfulness or unproductivity of events.
7. Rahu and Ketu are factors of consideration; shadow planets, fictitious planets or grahas, denoting points of intersection in the Sun and Moon's paths.
Western Astrology
1. Tropical Design, Sayana.
2. Tropical year marker, Sun returning to the Spring/Vernal equinox, when day and night become equivalent.
3. Does not include the precession of Earth’s wobble effect.
4. Does not include Ayanamsa.
5. Planetary aspects play a vital role in predictions: Two planets in Conjunction 0 degree or same degree, Sextile 60 degrees apart, Square 90 degrees apart, Trine 120 degrees apart and Opposition 180 degrees to each other.
6. Timing of events through planetary transits.
7. The furthest planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto (a dwarf planet) are factors.
